Selvers
18 x 25 cm – Mixed Media on Paper
Esra Soytürk’s work titled “Selvers” evokes a sense of an unconscious passage woven with fairy-tale characters. The figures, seemingly leaping out of children’s books, ironically reflect the complexity and emotional clashes of the adult world. The central witch figure stands out as both a threat and a representation of inner strength. The large face on the right establishes direct contact with the viewer, symbolizing a form of inner witnessing.
In this colorful universe created with mixed media on paper, the lines are spontaneous, and the colors are intuitive. Each figure represents a different state of self, a suppressed emotion, or a projection of the past. With this piece, Soytürk constructs an imaginary narrative that wanders the boundaries of dreams and reality. “Selvers” is both a playful and unsettling stage for an inner journey.
