ESRA SOYTÜRK'S ART IS A PROFOUND JOURNEY OF SELF-DISCOVERY AND EXPRESSION.

"Art is coming face to face with oneself" Jackson Pollock
Esra Soytürk graduated from the Yeditepe University Master’s Program in Plastic Arts and Painting in 2022.
Starting her artistic journey at a young age with ballet and piano education at the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory, Soytürk completed her middle and high school education at Istanbul American Robert College. She then earned her bachelor’s degree from Istanbul University, Faculty of Economics, in the Department of International Relations.
Soytürk began her painting studies in 2004 at the atelier of painter Kasım Koçak, while simultaneously continuing her work at the atelier of painter Aysu Koçak. This process, which started in 2004, took on a new dimension in 2016 with a transformative experience. This experience became a turning point in her life, opening the doors to a process of self-understanding and existential questioning. This inner journey turned into a phase of alignment and maturation for her, leaving deep traces in her art.
Esra Soytürk offers the audience an imaginary universe where characters from different cultures and lifestyles come together. Each of her works is woven with fragments of dreams that are familiar yet mysterious.
In her works, transformations of the human body and their reflections on the soul are frequently observed. These visual narratives, shaped at times by despair and conflicts, and at other times by enlightenments brought by small details, carry a hope that they can touch the “creative spirit” inherent in every individual. The meanings derived from this journey may differ for both the artist and the audience; however, the healing power of art remains a common ground for all of us.
