Land of Giants
15 x 10 cm – Acrylic on Paper
Esra Soytürk’s small-scale piece titled “Land of Giants” uses visual metaphor to depict the individual being crushed within massive societal structures. The towering figures drawn with sharp, rigid lines rise like mountains, while the small being at the bottom appears both vulnerable and observed. The turquoise background hints at an inner hope for peace that contrasts with the threatening atmosphere.
Created with acrylic on paper, this composition conveys pressure through lines and emotional resilience through colors. The downward-gazing faces represent a judgmental and cold societal structure. With this work, Soytürk strikingly yet simply presents the individual’s loneliness, fragility, and struggle against overpowering systems.
