Esra Soytürk’s small-scale work titled “The Vizier” explores themes of power, authority, and directional shifts through intertwined figures. The two back-to-back characters evoke both conflict and the necessity of coexistence. The dominance of yellow and purple tones on the surface symbolizes both nobility and inner turmoil, while the density of lines reveals the suppressed emotions behind the figures.

The use of acrylic on paper creates semi-transparent transitions on the surface, deepening both the layers of the figures and the themes. The vertical structure of the composition conveys a sense of hierarchical order; however, the interconnected lines of the figures reveal an unbreakable bond. “The Vizier” is not merely a chess piece but also an expression of the burden of power, the silence of solitude, and an inward position of strength.
